Sizing Your Bangle Bracelet

SilverTQ, LLC proudly offers the finest of highly stylized bangle bracelets.  Theses distinctive jewelry pieces are made in a continuous soldered-shut circle, and are not adjustable.  The bracelet size or circumference listed on this website will be a standard measurement of the total circular length of the piece.  For comparison, this measurement is the same as the total bracelet size we use for our cuff bracelets.  This includes the size of the bracelet length PLUS the cuff’s opening.  The inside diameter description is simply used for measuring the wearable inside space from one side of the bracelet to the other.

Placing The Bangle Bracelet on Your Wrist

What’s the best and easiest method for placing a bangle bracelet on your wrist?  We recommend to place your thumb as close to your little finger as possible, keeping your fingers pointed straight out.  Doing this you will notice your hand is now an elliptical or egg shape.  Keeping your fingers stretched out straight will help create a more narrow profile of your hand.  This simple and somewhat logical method is one we have found most preferred by our customers.  Of course, some others might find using an alternative method works best for them.  Many of our customers like “stacking” a variety of bangle bracelets on their wrist creating and interesting and oftentimes colorful presentation.

Many Attractive Styles

All styles of artist handcrafted Native American bangle bracelets we sell will assuredly be made of sterling silver (92.5%).  The style differences will be determined by the particular application of the artist.  Some bangles will be made of all silver with only distinctive stampwork applied.  Others may be of a more intricate style with such methods as appliqué and/or overlay being applied.

Appliqué is an artistic method defined as having handcrafted designs soldered onto the main band of the bracelet.  Overlay is created by the artist cutting out a particular design or designs with a jeweler’s saw.  This hand-sawed designed piece or pieces are then soldered onto a base plate of sterling silver, creating a 3-D effect.  The background will usually be oxidized (blackened) to create contrast and might have hash marks stamped inside.

Bangle bracelets might also have stone work applied to the main band of the bracelet.  These stones might be of cabochon style, petit point, needle point or inlay.  The application might be only along the top of the bracelet, or might also be applied throughout the bracelet design in a 360 degree fashion.

What is Petit Point, Needle Point, Inlay and Cabochon?

Petit point and needle point are smaller stone styles differentiated by the way they are cut.  Needle point is pointed on each end, and elongated like a needle.  Petit point is also a smaller cut, but might be pear shape, rectangular, oval, round or almost any smaller cut stone style.  All inlay styles are either channel inlay or stone-on-stone inlay.  This method is created by cutting stones to fit a predetermined pattern.  These stones might be all turquoise, or a mixture of stones and shells.

Channel inlay has a channel of very narrow sterling silver separating the individual stones.  Stone-on-stone inlays are set closely to each other without the spacing of sterling silver between the cut stones.  Sometimes both applications might be used in the same piece.  These forms typically are used in predetermined patterns.

Cabochon is described as a free-form shaped stone set in a bezel that is soldered to a base plate of sterling silver.  Cabochons are more often set in a free style rather than set in patterns.  This particular style is often used by many Navajo artists.
